Headquartered in Nashville, Tennessee, The Joy of Learning was founded in 2012, to provide private tutoring services by qualified and experienced instructors at the comfort of the students' homes, or at a mutually-agreeable public place, such as the library or a cafe.
Children are born with the intrinsic desire to learn. For instance, toddlers cannot wait to learn to walk, talk, self-feed, and to imitate everything adults around them do. Children want to learn, because learning is fun! As toddlers turn into school-aged children, though, learning sometimes becomes stressful, particularly when the students feel overwhelmed by the academic demands and begin to lose touch with the joy of learning. In a classroom setting, it is impossible for even the best teachers to provide substantial one-on-one attention to any students, or to tailor to each student based on individual personalities and learning styles. That is our goal at The Joy of Learning - we provide one-on-one guidance to our students to help them succeed! Our tutors are creative and flexible in their teaching methods, and are ready to come up with many different ways to teach the same material to different students according to their individual personalities, communication styles, current levels of abilities, and learning styles. Our goal is to create positive learning experiences for our students, as we believe that such experiences will lead the students to become more engaged in the learning process and consequently achieve better learning outcomes. We believe that under the guidance of highly-experienced and patient instructors, all students will, in time, reach their academic goals.
Instead of having our students come to a tutoring center, we help our students and parents save time by bringing carefully-selected tutors to their homes. However, if a student prefers, tutoring may also take place at a public place such as a library or a cafe that is convenient and mutually-agreeable between the student and the tutor. Our tutors all have impressive resumes demonstrating a high level of academic achievements and teaching experience, and have completed a successful interview in which their professionalism, presentation skills, and communication styles have been evaluated. To give our students and parents a peace of mind, all tutors have also all passed a thorough reference check and criminal background check before hire.
